GADI MIZRAHI - Louche Podcast 024
September 2010 / www.louchemusic.com

"We welcome a true heavyweight for our twenty-fourth episode in Wolf + Lamb head honcho Gadi Mizrahi who delivers us the self titled “Color TV mix”.

The New Yorker has risen to giddy heights since first hitting the scene in 2001; as a label owner, producer, promoter and DJ. Together with partner in crime Zev Eisenberg he is responsible for reforming Brooklyn’s party scene with their legendary parties at The Marcy Hotel, as well as running and producing for the groud breaking imprint Wolf + Lamb Records. His unique take on house music has seen him climb to the top of the pile, and by listening to this podcast it is clear to see why; the mix being a perfect blend of genres that make Gadi the forward thinking artist he is today."

a1 :: nasty things
b1 :: this must be the place
b2 :: no, this is the place

With Jamie and I being die hard fans of Prince, I knew that once we sat down to work on this "prince-like" vocal track, the outcome might turn out epic... and it did! "Nasty Things" became an instant anthem for our DJ sets. Two takes on the Talking Heads on the reverse to round it all out.

GADI MIZRAHI ::  I can never get enough EP
Spectral Sound 087 (12") :: Release Date: 16.02.10

a1 :: she don't
a2 :: oh love
b1 :: she don't (lowtec remix)
b2 :: i can never get enough

Gadi Mizrahi’s first EP, I Can Never Get Enough embodies the kind of musical promiscuity that informs the parties and label output generated as one half of NYC’s infamous Wolf+Lamb duo. The title track announces itself with a languorous, supple pulse, before introducing a surprising degree of musicality and complexity—the nominal disco of “She Don’t” doesn’t just reward frequent listens, it demands it—for such an effortlessly inviting work.

GADI MIZRAHI :: Oh Love
Spectral Sound 084 (mp3) :: Release Date: 15.12.09

“Oh Love” may serve as Gadi Mizrahi’s first single for Spectral and a teaser for his upcoming She Don’t EP, but it displays all the confidence, focus, and ingenuity of the roster’s most seasoned vets. Of course, Mizrahi is no dance-music novice, and he brings just the sort of dark, sexy, devilish spirit to “Oh Love” that he’s brought to underground Brooklyn parties for almost a decade now, as half of DJ/label/promoter Wolf + Lamb.

LABEL OF MONTH :: Wolf + Lamb
Resident advisor feature :: Publishing Date: 20.04.09

Burning Man sculptures, steam room breaks and a fake hotel: It\'s all part of what has made Wolf + Lamb one of the most exciting labels of 2009. RA\'s William Rauscher sweats it out to find out more.

It\'s 4 PM on a Tuesday and Wolf + Lamb are having a sleepover. You see, sometimes Zev Eisenberg and Gadi Mizrahi\'s Brooklyn compound, the deceptively named Marcy Hotel, really works like a hotel, like right before the WMC, when their whole label roster comes to stay. Then there\'s a good chance that a visit will yield Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss and Shaun Reeves lounging in the living room clad in t-shirts and sweatpants. A projector displays The Cartoon Network on the wall, and there\'s talk of the daily pilgrimage to the in-house steam room. This fraternal chill-out says a lot about Wolf + Lamb, a name that in one sense refers to Zev and Gadi, and in another to the close-knit musical community they\'ve cultivated for the past eight years.

WOLF + LAMB :: Brooklynn EP
Wolf + Lamb Music 03 (12") :: Release Date: 16.08.09

a1 :: therapist (feat. smirk)
a2 :: if u had (shaun reeves edit)
b2 :: must be brooklynn
b2 :: idiosyncratic

Wolf + Lamb follow up the huge Seth Troxler release and step forward with their own production paying homage to their homeland with ‘Brooklynn’ EP.

The Wolf + Lamb sound is simple and groove-led, citing multi-cultural influences true to the vibrant New York scene. ‘Therapist’ is reminiscent of the old Chicago sound featuring the vocals of fellow Brooklynn resident, Smirk. ‘If U Had‘ has a similar vein, an edited version of a 30 min jam session that Shaun Reeves has turned into a peak-time track, peppered with old Motown vocals. ‘Must Be Brooklynn’ is the deeper sibling of the package and the gliding pianos and broken beats of ‘Idiosyncratic’ provide an onslaught of jazz-infused house music. There is a digital-only treat in ‘Keep me up all night [Dancing]’, true to its name, rolling beats and melodies are fed under a sexy sample beckoning you to the dancefloor. Already charted by Damian Lazarus, this one is worth seeking out...
