Brand new Steve Bug cut in the house! Flight 111 is of course Poker Flat Recording's One-Hundred-and-Eleventh release, and Mr.Bug whipped up something rather special accordingly.

The haunting 'Metro Alpin' sees the Bug working on devilishly reduced levels to stunning effect. Evolving from a solid analog base, freaking, tweaking acid lines and smooth phasing chords lock the groove in a constant upward spiral of pure gold. We would expect nothing less from this master of funk and reduction.

'Outside Inn' pushes with raw studio punch and a real moody funk that always seems to be Steve Bug's true vocation. Tense, rising synth themes cross and combine in a majestic dance that instills in the listener the very essence of Steve Bug's infatuation with the late night, the freaky and the infectiously funky!

Bonus ,Ice’n Fire’ tie up the session with some beautifully arranged percussion grooves toying with the space / time envelope as Steve strings out a masterfully executed DJ tool that meanders along with a melancholic synth theme at its heart.

Respected German producer/DJ/label entrepreneur, Steve Bug, follows in the footsteps of Loco Dice, in compiling and mixing a double CD mix for NRK Music’s “The Lab” series. Committed to showcasing the house scene’s most innovative and technologically advanced DJs, “The Lab” is shaping up to be a series worth keeping your ears to the ground for.

And so to The Lab, a double disc treat from Bug that does not disappoint. Over the two discs, Steve shows his depth of DJ style, encompassing more deeper house sounds on disc one, and heady “tech” flavoured grooves on disc two. Showcasing many “leaders of the new school”, from the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble (MCDE), DJ Koze, Ben Klock, Audiofly, Markus Worgull and Chateau Flight, alongside established artists such as Peace Division, Cobblestone Jazz and Trentmoller, Bug dedicates this Lab mix to those house music producers with an edge and flair for innovative and futuristic sounds.

Bug’s “The Lab” mix perhaps sets the trend away from the minimal-by-numbers music from the last couple of years, and pushes the sound to more interesting and deeper territories. On fabric 37, Steve Bug moves flawlessly in and out of lush, seductive 4/4 grooves with impeccable grace, while managing to delicately straddle the borders of techno and house, both legs dancing on either side of the fine line throughout the 70 minutes. The lively funk-based collection of tracks expands subtly and develops to climaxing heights, rendering a mix as effective in a dark warehouse as it is a fantastic headphone companion. Laced with hypnotising, elegant selections, fabric 37 builds on poppy riffs, swelling synths and contagious melodies. Catch the bug and indulge in the kind of infectious mix that gets more addictive with each listen.

“I wanted to make the fabric mix atmospheric, with the occasional track where things go off! I think it typifies a set at fabric. When I was doing the Bugnology series, I was trying to compile all the records I was playing at that time. "A World Without" on the a-side is what we love steve bug for - his warm analouge sound and his simple understated fashion but unhurried ability to bring in slowly burning intensity taking things to a different level and his talent in using minimal elecments for maximum effects. The tune kicks off with a sublte groove beat plus steves vocal sample and shows him adding layer over layer of nifty sounds building of an hypnotic groove, after which the more and more stomach punching synth kicks in – and then he strips things back to the nude again in the exact right moment. the track has something magical to it from the first beats, a sure dance floor winner that will captivate dancers and listerners at both peaktime and after hour sets.

"Cru Savage" on the b-side is based on a bubbly, bleepy melody, a collage of deep and twisted effects grooving around the beats, heavy offbeat snares, and unexpected house chords. an impeccable production, and the perfect flipside to Steve's last release in 2007.

After the highly acclaimed previous mixes in the Fuse presents series by Dave Clarke, DJ Hell, Technasia and Joris Voorn, Belgium’s number one techno label Music Man and Belgium’s number one techno club Fuse team up for a new episode. This time the honour goes to Steve Bug, international resident at Fuse and one of the few true stars in the minimal scene. As the head of the much respected Poker Flat label, Steve Bug is one of the founding fathers of this scene, together with people like Michael Mayer and Richie Hawtin.
Championed by many, not only because of his brilliant and original productions, but even more because of his highly memorable DJ-sets, Steve Bug was the right man to mix the new Fuse presents CD. As he did on his two previous Bugnology mixes for the Poker Flat label, he edited all tracks with Ableton Live software for the ultimate continuous mix experience. Combining sought after classics from Johnny Dangerous or Rhythim Is Rhythim with future anthems by Pier Bucci, Move D and Efdemin next to brand new Poker Flat gems from Steve Bug himself and long time buddy Guido Schneider, this mix really has it all.
